CMYK Colour bars

The independent wastes roughly 2000 sides of ink daily by printing colour bars, despite there being new technology available, which can eliminate the need for them. I set my self the mission of visualising this amount. Many days of screen printing later!....... the result was this mound of CMYK papers. My aim is to make people aware of this waste and the impact that it has on the environment, considering that the independent is just one of 12 national papers.

Surplus (RSA winning entry)

In response to the Sustainability brief, Jo Bell, Sarah Brenkley and I created 'Surplus'. 13% of building materials delivered to construction sites ends up in landfill. In Brief!..... Surplus is a company which creates a network between large construction companies through to small and members of the public, making unused materials available to all for free. 'Surplus' hoarding boards display materials available. The website allows you to search for participation construction sites in your area. An event based around the concept of turning skips into fun activities would travel the UK to launch Surplus.

Handcrafted

This was a fun experiment into handmade Vs photoshop filters, for a photography project. Taking a selected few 'filters' and crafting them by hand; mosaic tiles, chrome, plaster and twist. A light-hearted comment on the amount that we designers rely on digital means without first exploring traditional crafts.

A conceptual solution to space saving in studio flats. The Furnibook is a life size pop-up book. each page unfolds into a piece of handy furniture.

Self Initiated Project - Colorblind

RBOPY (red, blue, orange, purple and yellow) are considered to be 'safe' colors to use next to each other when placed in that order. I have calculated the RGB values of all theses 'safe' colors. The concertina book can be used as a handy manual, or the removable cover can be taken off and it can be used as a poster in the office.

BP's Free Air Campaign

A concept for a CSR campaign for BP - Text on the forecourt floor points to a tyre and asks 'How much air is this one missing?' When the customer pays for their petrol the cashier hands them a bag of air, along with a receipt, that highlights how much you increase you fuel costs by having low tyre pressures. A line on the forecourt floor then leads you to their free air pump.

FREE BEER - Saw this and though it was a cool concept.

I recently bought a bottle of 'Free Beer' from the shop @ the Tate. I was intreagued as to what was 'free' about it.....

The label on the bottle explains that the beer's recipe is branded under the 'Creative Commons Licence' meaning that anyone can modify the recipe and earn money from it as long as they publish the results. Thought this was quite a cool idea.

An example of how different lighting and props can transform the same space. Just by changing these two things, we can depict who the viewer would believe lives in this room. An elderly person? A family, A student?

Royal Festival Hall installation

On the 10th May 2008 the classical piece of music 'Prometeo' by Luigi Nono was played for the first time in the UK at the Royal Festival Hall.

We were commissioned by the Southbank Centre to create a visual representation of the music.

Our installation featured at the Southbank Centre for the duration of the event.
